HOBOKEN -- The Hoboken Board of Education met last night, their first meeting since superintendent finalist Dr. Frank Romano withdrew his name in the final stretch of a six-month search process for the next superintendent of schools.

Board president Rose Markle said after the meeting that the board will wait until after the April board election to begin a new search. She said it is almost a foregone conclusion that Interim Superintendent Peter Carter will stay with the district for one more year, pending county superintendent and board approval.

It's a sad day for Hoboken, it's students and staff.
