Dear Editor:

While we usually spend our time exploring Hoboken's past, this past Sunday we had the pleasure of witnessing the Mile Square City's future. Each May for the past six years the Hoboken Historical Museum, along with more than two dozen community sponsors, has celebrated our youngest citizens who march, stroll and ride in the Hoboken Baby Parade.

Every year we wonder: When do those over-worked, over-tired parents find the time to be so creative? A little girl emerges from a stroller as a box of popcorn (one of her favorite foods, her parents declare). A bevy of tropical-colored birds lead the parade. A beautiful princess marches her own doll carriage down the pathway, while two young kings enjoy the ride in their double stroller. Our gratitude extends to all of the parents who have joined us on the Hudson Riverfront to honor community, family, parents, and the future faces of Hoboken.

We thank too all of this year's community sponsors who, along with the Museum, have dedicated themselves to supporting a family-friendly community. This year's supporters include our "Double Trophy Stroller" sponsors - Hoboken Pediatrics, D'Alberti-Brescia-Migliaccio-Kar, Dental Associates of Hoboken and Hoboken Pediatric Dentistry, David L. Principe, M.D., and the Hoboken Family Alliance; our "Trophy Sponsors" - Bambi Baby, Beyond Basic Learning, Hoboken University Medical Center, Dr. George McQuilken and Dr. Raul Aguilar, Mimosa Digital, Park Prer Academy: For Ages 2½-5 Years, Progressive Pediatrics, Riverside Pediatric Groups, HOPES Inc, and The City of Hoboken; and our "Stroller Sponsors" - A Whole New World Academy of Hoboken, Empower Your Body, Barefoot in Hoboken at Creative Little Monsters, Big Fun, Club H Fitness, Devotion Yoga, Hair Cult, Hartshorn Portraiture, Johnny Rockets, Monroe Street Movement Space, Rags to Roses Cleaning Service, Romparoo, Shoeuphoria and Wee Beasties Bootery.

Every year there are more families choosing to stay in Hoboken, and we are pleased at the Museum to present free events including the Baby Parade and the upcoming Family Photography Workshop (June 9th, 16th and 23rd, 1-3 p.m.), and Family Concert with Dave Lambert and Friends (June 23rd at 3:30 p.m.) that teach, delight and entertain parents and children alike.

Sincerely,
Carol Losos
